I can haz book deal?

I CAN! I CAN!

Some of you may have seen this over the weekend, as it ran early in Publisher's Weekly, but I wanted to wait until I had the Publisher's Marketplace announcement to go with it before I put it on the blog:

Josin L. McQuein's debut ARCLIGHT, a science fiction/dystiopian thriller, where a parasitic race is driving humanity to the point of extinction, and no one who leaves the last safe enclave ever returns until one teenage girl, a stranger, stumbles out of the Dark, to Martha Mihalick at Greenwillow, in a two-book deal, in a major deal, by Suzie Townsend at FinePrint Literary Management (NA).

    Wonderful? Yes! Fantastic? Certainly! But amazing? No, not really. Because I think anyone who's been following you knows you had it in you & that it was coming. Amazing implies we were shocked, surprised that it was snatched up. Having read just small snippets of your work, I'm not surprised at all.

    I found your blog through Query Shark, and just wanted to say congrats on the book deal! Your book with Greenwillow sounds great, I'll definitely be looking for it when it comes out. It doesn't sound like the book form Query Shark, so hopefully we'll see that one too, eventually.

    I think I said a long time ago that your stories should be bound and on bookshelves - but this, this is abso*** amazing. MAJOR book deal. Btw., I can't think of anyone who'd deserve it more.

    I'd put a million dancing bananas over here, but don't think this format would support it, so again, a simple Congratulations will have to suffice...
