I remember one of the first books I wrote, the love interest was SUPPOSED to be the son, but then he wound up going off to the army, and it was his DAD that the heroine fell for. Dangit. Idiot girl was supposed to be learning how to work on race cars, not fall in love with a guy who was way cooler than the twit he called junior.

Characters. You slave over them and breathe life into them, and how do they thank you? Ungrateful creatures. :-)Cynthia Reesehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13128418037470085123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086442299350220938.post-47393036221996241822010-04-20T12:34:08.588-05:002010-04-20T12:34:08.588-05:00Josin,

I know exactly what you mean from the gender reassignment to the refusal to do something.

When I started writing, I remember reading a comment from some writer who complained that her characters sat on the edge of her bed and kept her awake at night. I shook my head and thought "no way, there are fictional. I control them."

Yeah right.

Now I find myself saying things like, "That outfit would look good on Sophie," or "Colin loves this beer."

And, I'm rambling.

Thanks for the post.Shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11640509596922335617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086442299350220938.post-79609516341230890252010-04-20T10:37:03.702-05:002010-04-20T10:37:03.702-05:00Oh, I *love* it when that happens. It makes the writing so much easier because a) the characters do a lot of the grunt work themselves and b) BONUS! it helps you know you're on the right track. Great blog :D I'm a new follower!Zoe C.
