Inside the Arclight #2

Since we're already on the subject of names, I'll tackle another unforeseen oddity with the character names I chose.

ARCLIGHT FACT #2

One of the adult characters in ARCLIGHT is named Honoria. It's an old-fashioned name, and the feminized version of "Honor." (She was named for her father, and Honor is his middle name.)

Apparently, I should have included a pronunciation key.

On'NOR-ee-uh. Not On'or-RHEE-uh. It does not rhyme with an STD.

Charles Emerson Winchester, III, from M*A*S*H, had a sister named Honoria, which was mispronounced at one point. When trying to locate which episode contained the mispronunciation, I stumbled across a blog by one of the M*A*S*H writers, Ken Levine:

"One final trivia note: In college I once went out with a girl named Honoria. I asked if she used any nicknames, like maybe "Honey"? She arched her back and angrily said, "NO. My name is Honoria!" Needless to say we didn't click. But I used that name for Charles' sister. Never give shit to a future comedy writer."

Interesting name; I've seen it before but never knew if I was saying it right.
